John Deere 4440

I was round bailing hay today, and when I got done when I
was standing next to the tractor, some antifreeze came out
of one of the sides. Tractor was shut down at this point is
this just from the overflow? I havent investigated it yet.

I know you were there to see it but the rest of us are not. So we are stuck going totally off your description. I am suspecting that you meant to say ..side screen.. instead of ..side.. which is a pretty broad description. Side screen in front on the radiator on each side. If that is the case I cannot remember exactly where the radiator overflow tube ends but if there is any kind of leak on it it could very well dump a little coolant out that could come out under the screen. This could be just some expansion of the coolant as the engine sets and hot soaks. Of course it could also be anyone of the problems other posters have mentioned as well.

Your just going to have to trace the leak back to its source.

Could be just overflow, but wouldn't have to be.

For what it's worth, baling hay is a dirty job. Air passages through radiator can get clogged up with dust and debree. This can cause coolant system to over heat, or run hotter than normal. This would cause some escape out the overflow. But, like I said, it wouldn't have to be. Could just be an otherwise leak someplace. That's why it'd be important to investigate.

Heat soak? If the tractor was shut off hot, the stationary coolant in the block and head may have absorbed enough heat to expand or boil a bit, pushing coolant out the overflow.
