Had my Ford Ferguson 9n about 1 1/2 now love it.

So my son was using it, first he said tractor was starting to loose power, starting spitting and sputtering and then died will not start back up.

6 volt gas.

So I get out there sure enough will not start, drop nut on bottom of carburetor plenty of gas pouring out (opened valve at tank).

Decided to go purchase new Coil & plugs from Steiner tractor in Lennon, MI - Installed, still no start.

Checked all wire connections - good.

This little unit always started right up no problem.

Now I am being told maybe points/condenser did not replace yet was gonna try & clean first.

Any suggestions?

my suggestion would be, if the points and condenser don't cure the problem, ask again about it on the Ford 9N, 2N, 8N forum. you're on a general board here. look further down the list of forums and you'll see it :)

Did you still have good fuel float after the float bowl was empty ans running out just the needle valve? The bowl would give a rush of fuel then if line or tank is empty no flow afterwards. Check cap on tank with it loose will it start and run if so the vent in the cap is plugged. Cheaper to trouble shoot then get parts than to just mas replace and have no idea what is wrong. Chane only one thing at a time to know what does work and what doesn't. Do you have spark and was the coil hot, to hot to keep your hand on. Has this been converted to 12 volt?
