This is a 1956 GMC for sale. I like it.

Gotta be better than this one that just
sold today. Had a title but no tag. Guy
selling it took it in and never had it
tagged. Sold for $3,100.

I wonder where he got those wheels. I have a '69 chevy that has 18 or 19 year old tires on it. It still has the lock ring wheels.

I have a 58 big window GMC in the same color combination. Well, actually the body is in primer but the interior is two tone green.

My 56 Chevy 3/4 ton came with 17.5 inch 1 piece wheels and 8-17.5 tires from the factory. I don't know if the dually 1 tons used the 17.5 wheels too. Obviously would be different centers than the single wheel setup. The truck in the picture certainly looks like it has 1 piece (not split rim or lock ring) wheels and original straight front axle. Tires look like they could be 17.5. A little lower profile than the more common tire sizes of that era.

After looking at the ad, I can see they are 15 degree beads so that would make them 16.5, 17.5, 19.5 etc. wheels. The rear differential is the original Eaton so I'd assume the front is also original. Couldn't read the size on the tire though.

With the forked 8 emblem on the side, wouldn't that mean it originally had a Pontiac engine ahead of the hydramatic transmission that was used in the Cadillac, Pontiac and Oldsmobile cars of the day and they had to be parked in reverse?

Pontiac 317 with hydramatic. Not sure on park position. By 1960 the Olds 4 speed Hydramatic had a dedicated park, but seems to me some earlier ones didnt. Not sure on years on that.

When I was in high school my Grandpa gave me a 53 Huson Hornet. It had a 4 speed hydramatic trany that you parked in reverse. My Uncle had a 56 Pontiac and it was the same for parking. Odd that the Hudson had a GM trany, but I guess that's the way it came.
