Looking for a Backup Camera Recommendation

I would like to add a backup camera to my 2000 F550 to make it easier to hook up to a bumper pull trailer. I've tried a couple wireless ones that create a wifi signal and show the image via an app on a phone; however, those have not worked very well, maybe because of poor signal issues getting through a load on my bed or maybe just poor quality merchandise, who knows. I have one that mounts via a magnet and is wireless, it works fine as long as the camera and phone are close together, but get the camera 10-15 feet away, or through a load on the truck and it cant pick up the signal.

Anyway, I was wondering if there is one that still hooks up to a phone, but via a wired USB connection instead of wireless. I could mount the camera at the back of the truck and run the wire into the cab and plug it into my phone as needed to get hooked up. I've searched online but am only finding a camera to mount on a computer or a borescope/endoscope style of camera. I wasn't sure a borescope style would work very well as I'm thinking the angle might be too small to be practical.

I could buy an aftermarket radio that comes with a camera, but those are quite a bit of money.

Have any of you done something like this to an older vehicle? Any recommendations for me?

I recently put one on my 1976 chev pu. Same reason getting hooked up to spreader or whatever. Mine has screen that mounts on dash, bout4x6, large enough to see. Camera mounts on license plate bracket and is wireless to screen. Not sure of brand but it came from Amazon. Only problem I had was bracket supplied for screen was not very substancial so I picked up a phone dash mount that has magnet that screen hooks to. Definitely helps. Camera is adjustable up and down.

For seeing behind you. No batteries; wires; or phone needed.

This is the one I have, completely wireless. I needed wireless so I could move the camera to hook up both bumper pull and gooseneck trailers. I can also attach the camera to the license plate of our camper to see behind it while pulling. I use a magnet to hold the camera where I need it. It doesn t use your phone. Screen plugs in, camera is rechargable. In three years I ve charged it once.

I added a wireless backup camera ( #BC-40 ? ) to my Garmin 61 GPS. The GPS has a 6 inch screen that I have mounted on the lower right of the drivers vision. The camera mounts to the top of the license plate. With a 170 degree view, that is a great location for a backup camera, but a different vantage point ( higher looking down from the tailgate handle ? ) might be better for hitching to a trailer.

Thanks for your responses. I'd rather not add a camera with a screen. I prefer to use the screen on my phone.

Beautiful, but not sure about the practicality of mounting mirrors at the back corners of the truck bed.

I believe one of the downsides to all of the cameras that work with your phone is occasional loss of signal. I don t think any particular brand is better than others in that regard.

Avoid one that is integrated into a license plate frame.

I bought one on clearance from BJ's wholesale club thinking it would be great on my 2002 Chevy pickup. Went to install it and it won't fit with the rear step bumper.

What I ended up doing is backing it up with an aluminum license plate blank, some magnetic door sticker material, and slapping it on the tailgate. Works great. Sat all winter in the barn with no sunlight and worked perfectly in the spring.

Under 50, but would pay more if it came highly recommended. Again I don't want a screen with it. Just a camera that preferably is wired to hook up to my phone screen.

Don't even know if these exist.

With the two I've tried it's almost
constant loss of signal unless the camera
is less than 5 feet from the phone.
