Ford # D2NL6015G

Can anyone tell me the cubic inch size and year made of Ford 4 Cylinder diesel with block casting # D2NL6015G
Valve cover says its a 192 however its in a Ford 981 row crop diesel i bought and books says its a 172. Maybe valve cover was changed or the engine had been replaced with a 192. I have a leaking injector and need to know for sure what it is. Thanks.

D2 in the casting code means the block
casting was designed in 1972, N means
designed by the tractor division and L
means used as an industrial engine. Of
course 6015 is an engine block and G is
the revision. I would say this is
consistent with a 4 cyl 192 CID engine
removed from an industrial application
such as a chipper, generator, water pump,
or what not and transplanted into your
tractor.

It is likely to be a 192 if it s an actual Ford label on the valve cover, and the valve cover matches the engine in paint color and age

We purchased a D3NL6015 industrial engine off a air compressor
We thought it might be a 192 but turned out to be a 172

I want to see that 'book' that says a 981 Diesel has a 172 Engine. All diesels used a 192 engine from my manuals. This may help ID your tractor, or maybe not.

take injecter to good fuel system shop. if they are good they will
match new componets to match injecter you have reguardless the
model of engine

I want to see the book that says a 981 ever had a 192 diesel, !962 was the last year for the Hundred series and all 800 and 900 series ford had a 172 cu in engine. A 192 was an industrial engine

Wrong models Tim
58/62 8/901 models used the 172 gas and diesel 4 cylinder, 192 was an industrial only engine in that design
65/68 4000 had a 192 3 cylinder gas engine but the diesel was a 201
The first 3 cylinder 192 diesel wasn t available until the 80 s
