I believe I had posted before about the need to replace this fitting on the fuel tank of my John Deere 50 LP.

I've got the new fitting for it, and will be getting it installed at some point.

I'm sure I'll get 17 different answers for this, but just wondering what the brain trust here would recommend to use as a thread sealer when screwing this in place. I have a roll of the yellow teflon tape, which states that it is rated for use with propane. Right now I'm leaning toward that, but was just wondering if anyone else has had experience with this type of fitting, and what your thoughts are. Thanks!

Definitely use sealer. Tape has gotten a bad rap because some people dont know how to properly wrap it on the fitting. To be safe use
a paste type such as loctite thread sealant. Make sure its rated for petroleum products.

At the plant I worked at we had dozens of LP forklifts. All we used was a product called Leak Lock blue compound. I use it on gasoline fittings too.

I spent 13 years hauling lp, setting
tanks, etc. We used a product called
Rector Seal #5. It works. I'd never use
Teflon tape on LP. It used to be
prohibited.

asak your lp deliverey guy to coat it for you n offer him coffee tea
n cake or pie to help you for a minute or 2
