Can anybody in that area tell me when the flax and canola were planted also what time they think it's gonna bloom. On the Google machine it says 45 days after planted that's why I asked.We want to go up into the Dickinson area and I know we did this years back during the bloom it's the most prettiest thing I've ever seen I think. I like to hit that again

Flax is probably not in the ground yet or just planted.
Your best luck finding some will be in the Minot/Max area.
Canola has maybe been in the ground a week. Langdon
through Rugby is the center of canola growing.
Planting has not been underway very long in most of this
area. Some parts have not turned a wheel yet.

I use to work in a refinery that refined flax ,canola and soybean for the oils. Flax seed that was grown in ND was pretty much the only seed we excepted as the quality was there. Sellers would send us seed samples and we had a little press to extract the oil and do a test. We rejected a lot of seed. We refined it for pharmisuticle. I think canadian seed was good too.
In our area there's very little seed in the ground. I think this week is the first I've seen anybody out scratching around. And mostly just knocking down corn stalks and such. When I got home from work today, there was a neighbor in a field next to ours and I could hear his air seeder going. That's the first I've seen. Flax used to be really common here back in the 70s and 80s. Then in the 90s and early 2000s we saw a lot of canola. Kinda stinky stuff! Now we mostly see corn and beans. And of course wheat, some sunflowers, barley etc.
