1961 Ford 4000 hub bolt

I'm missing a hub bolt and am confused because the lug bolts are 5/8-18, but the hole in the hub is larger and appears to have spiral threads. I can feel the threads with my little finge. It reminds me of an exhaust manifold bolt, but different diameters. What am missing?

Confused.

Are you speaking of a wheel lug stud?

If so, studs have serrated heads that are pressed (or pulled) into the hub. No threads.

Yes, the wheel lug stud. If you look at the pictures, you can see (barely) circular threading, Definitely not serrated. I can feel them with my pinky. They feel just like threads. You can stick a 5/8 bolt in there easily, but I haven't tried to thread match it yet

It appears that someone has somehow modified it. I guess now it's my turn to decide if I want to replace the bolt at all, figure out what goes in there and how to secure it.or put it back the way it was, somehow. Is the squeeze worth the juice
