I.H. model 674 239 engine diesel

As I keep working on the 1974 I.H. model 674. I keep learning the facts about a English made farm tractor that somehow found its way to me. I first thought a engine block was to be easy. Little did I know that since the engine were made in Germany that the design of the block would change. which meant in getting camshafts meat you had to get a complete engine. to do the job right. I can say that I got a complete 239 diesel engine shipped to me. So I can get this tractor back up and running again. The picture I post here well it is because that I did not take the time in the first place to make Shure that the fist bare block, I got had come with the camshaft that was in it. instead, I had bought a bare block thinking parts would be easy to buy and get for it. found out later I was wrong. I had posted looking for the camshaft, but nobody said they had one for sale for me to buy. so, I instead had to look and locate an 239 diesel engine and get it shipped to me. It is only money you can't take it with you when you die. There are two designs on this engine. Plus, there are ones that are turbo engines to. still learning as I do this diesel project.

I got happy yesterday when I got it on the engine stand 239 Diesel engine complete. Found it in Washington states and had it shipped to me in California.

Bret be advised that there are actually two diffrent oil pump/ balancer assemblies , depending on which gear you have on the crank shaft. Some use a straight gear and some a side ways gear, all this after you got the cam deal figured out. Be sure and time the balancer to the crank gear.

I need to say this last time I went on big step forward. I had found this one place Waters tractor, LLc. www.waterstractor.com. I had bought a 239-diesel engine complete. Had it shipped to be. Which it came to me this last Friday. I had to go that way because like I said earlier this past month that I know gasoline engines. this is my first tractor that is diesel. so I needed to make this more simpler for me and a complete engine just made sense. Thank you

I have to say that I have not even thought about that. I have a block and a lot of new parts that were bought from All state tractors. Three years ago. since the machine shop is so very slow. that I first need to say that the new parts I have bought are still seating and waiting to be put to use. I can only say this is my fault. I put it on myself. I first should had bought a complete engine. Then started to work on it. instead, I did what my parents taught me to do. that is to try to do it the cheapest way. Which I have to say this was not the right way. It was a big learning curve for me on tractors engines changing them out. never take it for what you know and till you learn the right way to get it done. I got the oil pan off tonight. I might sell the new parts but that is if I am Shure, I really can't put them on the self in the parts room area and hold on to them.
