GreetingsYT'ers: I have a Ford Doodlebug tractor. Vintage 1927/58. I would like to replace the very noisy burned out glass pack muffler with a very quiet modern muffler. I'm no
longer in my 20's, closer to my 80's. Any suggestions? Thanks, Gary

I guess I'd just take some measurements (length, inlet pipe size, etc.) and take them to a muffler shop or parts house. They should be able to come up with something that would work. Or even take the old one with you for comparison purposes.

Tractor supply sells tractor mufflers. Get one that measures the same as your old one. It will still have that tractor 'sound' without the raw exhaust blast.

If you can tell the sizes you need you can look here. You need the inlet size, outlet size and the diameter. 20 years ago walker had a list and descriptions in the back of their paper catalogs. I would guess you want a round muffler, and a local muffler shop would be my first stop.(probably a lot cheaper than an auto parts store.)

An oval car muffler with good baffles will likely be quieter than the original muffler was new. Use one intended for a four cylinder to get the right resonance cancellation. A local muffler shop should be able to fix you up. Does it just need a muffler or the whole exhaust system? For just a muffler carry your old one into the shop.

What SS55 posted. The round ones are basically straight through with rows of punched tabs that simply add turbulence to the flow.
