i pull in.
boss got me a pretty well lite timpte trailer stainless steel back and front corners lites galore and polished aluminum wheels.
no lectric tarp or traps but even loaded the doors crank very easy

And every light if not lit will get wrote up during an inspection. Whether is is needed or not. I got teased by some of the other o/o where I was leased to, when I bought the new truck. I was told I was the only guy that would buy a large car and not load it with chicken lights. I said they don't make money and cost to main tain while getting problems if the go out at an inspection. some of them had to agree with me. Still teased me though.

A fella whose you tube channel I follow put up a video of the Mid America 2023 truck show. The working trucks on display on the lots outside made the inside show look insignificant.

Agreed 100%. Like my old man said all those guys with chrome will step over the grease gun and pick up a polish rag. I always figured less attention was better.

This is why I don't understand why truckers decorate their trailers like Christmas trees. Minimum legal requirements only. Sure it isn't as pretty, but you're not giving them any more reasons to hassle you than is necessary.

The trucks I drove for 35 years were usually fairly new but were about as plain as you could get. No radios or any short of non-essential stuff stuff and they beat you to death driving down the road. I didn't have air conditioning or power steering the first 20 years although they did have a heater in them lol. But I was paid good and have a great pension and was able to retire from there at 58 which made it well worth it to me.

I would rather have electric tarp than any of those lights. I think more money spent on making it easier is better than shine. Now if it was 25 years ago and I could still crank a tarp at least I would get some exercise. Today pain makes me cringe at just thinking of rolling that tarp back.

(quoted from post at 07:00:44 04/12/23) Yeah, always some that worry more what it looks like than what it is. gm

I don't mind folks having a little fun, but when your fun becomes a legal requirement by its mere presence and a liability when it stops working...

While I can understand the whole enforcement side and can see why a company wouldn't waste the money/create the headache. If it's a personal trailer (O/O), I can see having pride in the ride and doing something like this especially with LED these days. No it doesn't make you more $ per mile, but it's no different than putting custom paint jobs, flares, tinting on a personal vehicle. Doesn't make it get better mileage or work better, but it's yours and you like it, same thing with trucks/trailers.

Yup! owners pride, or pride in your company, or just pride in your ride. Compared to 25 years ago problems with lights are now very uncommon.

All you guys whining about old incandescent lights need to get with it, the new LED lights are not a maintenance nightmare like those were.

if you keep a few extra lites n change when needed no problem.even minium lights go out n i see several lites out on minium lit trucks. as for pay im treated very well in that department.
