the neighbor came yesterday and wanted a few pails of grain crushed. i still have the grain crusher that came from the Timothey Eaton co.
from way back then. it still has the decal on it but getting hard to read. i believe this unit is from the 1950's. for the ones that dont
remember Eatons , it was a big clothing company and we used to get a big thick catalog in the mail each year and mother would order our
clothes this way. then they came in the mail in time for the new school year. i still remember riding to Edmonton in the 1956 pontiac in
early 1960's. actually the hyway was still a gravel road and not paved. it was about a 50 mile drive.
i used the W6 TA to run the crusher as was the way it was done around here with the old W6 in the same log building.

I spent many of my younger years with my dad cutting firewood with a bucksaw mounted on the front of the tractor. Working with that flat belt was some times a pain. No safety guards! Somehow with the grace of God I survived. Those truly were the good old days!

I'm in Ohio - very little barley.
Why do you crush barley? Or is that the same as grinding ?

We used to grind oats and corn for chicken feed.

My feed grinder and corn sheller are belt driven. I also have a papec ensilage cutter that is belt driven. Most of my tractors have a belt pulley so I can use the smaller guys like my F14 or Super C or A or 100 or BN on the sheller and my larger tractors - M, H and W30 for grinding feed or using the ensilage cutter. I enjoy running machinery that uses a flat belt.

The only thing that I remember for sure that we used a flat belt for was the silage blower that was used to fill the silo with cut corn. We used a Massey Harris but I don't remember for sure what model it was, I think it was a 44, but I'm not sure.

My older brother cut his pinky and ring finger, below the joint on the right hand, the Doctor saved em, but their crooked, he was 13-14 when that happened i was maybe 6 or 7, Helping our dad cutting firewood!

use it for feed. its actually the same grind or crush same outcome. but not like a roller mill where it just rolls the oats ,like squashes it.

My cousin Rich had a fence post in his barnyard. Put the front wheels of his Farmall H on the post, the belt would be lined up with his hammermill inside the barn. He ground feed that way for years.
