Suitcase weight price

What brand as this today makes a difference . What they bring today is a LONG way from what i use to by them for.
where i did my shopping they came with a new 5/16th or 3/8ths chain of around 16 to 20 feet long with two hooks bolted together ( made for easy loading ) and ya bid on the chain and got the weights for free. in stack of 10-12 Bought some real expensive chains over the years sometimes i would have to give a 100 bucks for one.
 
I sold 10 Ford weights of an IH tractor couple years back for 1000.00 with high price of everything may be worth more now .

Must be you had some to sell? That's what people looking to buy them will tell you. They know weights are bringing much more than that at auctions and are lying to you.

Two 100lb John Deere weights brought $125 each at an auction today. Plus 10% buyer's premium makes them $137.50.

Last week a set of 5 IH 100lb small handle weights brought $120 plus 10% for $132 each. A set of 6 IH 100lb large handle weights at the same auction brought $155 plus 10% for $170.50 each. A set of 11 IH 100lb weights brought $145 plus 10% for $159.50 each.

Weights tend to sell low when there are only one or two.

They were $1.00/lb for some 20 years. They may have gone up a little in the last few years. The ones that I had to sell sold fairly soon. If they are one inch thick 100 lbs. they are more valuable than the thicker ones, because you can fit more on the bar. It looks like puller numbers are dropping off some so demand will go down.
 
For one dollar Canadian a pound, I will take all you have.

As others have said brand/style make a difference. JD and IH bring the best prices.

I have collected about 3000 lbs of Belarus weights and never paid close to 1 dollar per pound.
 
I've seen the IH 65 LB weights go for 2-3 bucks a pound, as the older fellows can't lift the 100 pounders anymore for the puller toy they like playing with. All depends on who wants them.
 
Like has been said some weights are worth a lot some hardly bring scrap price.Massey Ferguson garden tractor weights bring about as much per pound as any weights I know of.Cockshutt front frame weights generally bring good money as do MM front wheel weights.
 
it's not that we can't lift them anymore, it's that it makes it easier to get your tractor more closely weighted to your class, i even have old track grousers with a lip welded on them to hang, object is to be as close to the allowed weight as possible, same reason I have as many IH half weights as I do full weights

Maybe for you! My heavier puller went down the road two years ago. When I could back up to my trailer between classes it wasn't hard to swing 1,000 lbs. over, but five 100s on the front from the ground were getting to be tough, LOL.
 
used to be a buck a pound last year. This year seeing $1.50 up to 2 bucks a pound more common. Something called inflation?

Hasn't been close to a buck a pound around here since the 1990's. Sometimes you'll come across an auction where everyone is sleeping, but $1.20-$1.50 has been the norm for a very very long time.

I've seen IH suitcase weights sell for as much as $2.75 a pound. Two old guys stood shoulder-to-shoulder and kept on bidding and bidding.
