Darn ground hogs

I see on TV the ground hog saw his shadow. That means 6 more weeks of winter. I only have two weeks of wood left, maybe less. Going to be looking for wood in a few days. How is your wood holding up? If you have any extra bring me a load to the west coast thanks. Stan

Dad always hoped the ground hog would see his shadow as only six more weeks of winter would be a very early Spring In SE MN. Eight to ten more weeks is normal for the frost to be out of the ground. Only six weeks would be a miracle.

The frost isnt very deep at all this year where the deep snow is.

About the only good thing of this winter here in Minnesota! Enjoying the minus teens F tonight.

Maybe the rat saw it's shadow and is calling for another 6 weeks. I figure that Feb 2nd being mid point of the winter season should not be producing a week of 45 degree temps for the next few days. The snow at my house should be gone starting mid morning with the return of rain. 3 days of it is enough.

My resident ground hog was smart enough not to come out of his home today , won't see him out till ya see me out . as i get older i don't like the cold . Like i tell my one Dr. at the Cleveland clinic From Nov till after FROST law goes off you ain't ah going to see me so don't go getten any goofy idea's i am coming up to see you . If i make it through winter and into spring then after April 15th then you can set and appointment .

I never put much stock in all those wives tales. As for frost we had some earlier then it thawed out and has been pretty dry all winter. Now just mud under the snow we got last week. With 4-5 inches of snow the ground won't freeze under it and now it is supposed to thaw with 3 days in the mid 40's it will be gone. I suppose then it will get cold and we can have winter for the last 2 months to 10 weeks.

Punxsutawney Phil is right only 40% of the time.

On average, a coin toss would be more accurate.

I was in California in 2019 on a road trip when I retired I'm still amazed at how beautiful all the western states are especially California visited some of the redwood trees and drove across the Golden gate Bridge in sanfrancisco can't wait to go back

Ah yes, Groundhog Day. The day when we are subjected to a litany of snide remarks from cynical people who can read a calendar, and are clearly missing the meaning of the statements "6 more weeks of winter" and "early spring."

Oh, but can they read a calendar? I'm not so sure. If you read the calendar, it's actually 6 weeks, 4 DAYS until "spring" this year. That's MORE than 6 weeks or "42 days" as some like to say.

So take that, you no-fun-having, nit-picking, party poopers.

Saw this yesterday. Looks like he committed suicide. Left a note that he was sick and tired of all the cold weather and authorities will not let him cross the border to winter in Florida.
