Looking through some old pics and saw this--This is what is left of a piston from our big block 619 ci. Deere at 3000 rpm when the keeper does not do its job .. Believe it or not the head was still usable--The joys of tractor pulling!!---Tee

If you look close you will see what is left of the valve stuck in the piston..

Had a Cummins VT903 in an old Steiger. The top of a valve broke off, flipped over, and stuck into the top of the piston. There was no noise, just a loss of power. There was very little damage. I was so poor/cheap at the time I considered re-using the piston. But as thick as the piston head was, the stump of the valve stem part of the valve top stuck into the piston enough that a tiny crack opened up on the under side. We got the head overhauled and with a new piston was back in business. The next year I had the other head overhauled.

I had a new Roka valve in an old air cooled VW break off late at night on I65 near Elizabethtown KY.
Pulled VW back to Indiana, fixed the engine and then sold it.
Last VW I ever owned.

Shave the top off and bolt a puck to it. Good as new. Might want to back off the 3000 rpms some and a littler less boost.

My first Steiger was a ST-250 but before I bought it I went clear up in northern Minn.--Thief River Falls to look at one--A Panther I think-that had a 903 in it--Before I went I was talking to a buddy about it and he said--Not a 903--A 90 nothing...It was ROUGH---Tee
