You have to remove the rear cover-rockshaft if it has one. Remove the bull gears and drive the axles out. There is a felt washer at the outside of the axle that is
just a dust shield and doesn't seal anything else. The actual seal is inside the axle housing behind the bearing cup. You might need to knock that cup out to get to the
seal. Once you have the seal out you can replace it with new. Look at the race's and see if they are pitted. Might be time for new bearings while you're in there. Is
the transmission over full that the axle is leaking? JD part number is AB1326R. You should be able to find a bearing place to cross it for you.

Unless you are a fullfledged mechanic with help and a very
well equiped shop just for labor thousand of dollars. One
person cannot do everything by himself. Parts to be handled
by hand too heavey for one person to handle.
 
The axles are not leaking but I am repainting the tractor I have it torn down pretty far and figure while I have it apart replace all seals. It is a flat back. Thank you!!
 
I will have help I have it in my garage at the moment but if I am going to pull it apart and put new seals in it I might take it down the road to put main farm that has a bit better of a shop.
 
Say what? I've changed out axles on G's by myself in a short afternoon. Not that big a deal to do. B would be a lot lighter.
 
i was gonna say not that hard also. chaned bearings and seals in dads 52 A in a day easily. but the wheels slid off easy too
 
Did you have the cast wheels or the pressed steel? Did you have them filled with fluid? When the wheels had to just be reversed on the A for the corn picker the tire shop set up for handling tires took longer than just to reverse the wheels. One man could not handle a wheel on that tractor. Now id talking about the pressed steel with no fluid then possible.
