Many years ago, I read about adapting an auto engine to an Allis G. Now I can't find the discussion. Can anyone help? I started thru the 396 pages of Allis archives, but a long process.

I don't recall the name, but there used to be a firm in Fla. that installed a 3 cylinder Kubota diesel engine in the G Allis Chalmers.

Dont't know that anything was ever written about it but I repowered two with 662 Kubota engines that as far as I know are still running today. Working around the fan drive got easier once they came out with electric fans.

Gene have you ever been around Tuff-built clones of the G Have three here now that I am repowering with Kubotas .?

I once heard a scandivanian man give a talk to an FFA group. He told about the G being very popular with truck garden farms. When the G engine is shot, farmer would have a machine shop make an adapter plate to mount a Volkswagen engine.

I have seen one Tuff-Bilt tractor. A tractor jockey up the road from me had one for sale and by the time I went home and came back with my check book it had already been sold and was gone. I think that this one had ~ 12HP Tecumseh electric start engine powering it. Where were they built?
There was another ''G'' inspired/copied tractor that I have seen one of, made by the John Blue Co. that I think maybe also made cotton pickers in the 1950's and I think they were made in Alabama.
Wasn't there that some guy or company that was going to try manufacturing ''G'' clones or such in Cuba at one time ?

I have three of the Tuff-built and they were a Georgia product, I am 79 and memory not that good but i have a book on the history somewhere around here and they came out and sold well in the first few years then company got in financial trouble any I thought I remembered the guys name as being Davis that brought them back out. The show a web site now and offer a diesel but I am not certain they are still around. I would make someone a deal in my three I just do not have time anymore for these projects .
