Hi all, hoping some greater minds than my own can help here.
I have a Farmall 544 Hydrostatic transmission tractor, serial # 12744, that stopped moving forward or backward suddenly one day this past September. Just having time now to dig into it. PTO, 3 point hitch, and power steering all work.
So far I have:
-drained all hydraulic oil(looked clean and clear), changed filter, and refilled with new oil, bled air out of system. Had hopes that a would do it, but no change.
-adjusted the foot-n-inch valve stem. No change.
And
-taken off the "Z-plate" to see if the forward and reverse speed select lever might be shifted off course. I found that when I move that lever to the far right for forward and far left for reverse(this is with the guide plate off, so I moved the lever very far to the right and left), the tractor will move a bit forward and backwards. But not consistently.
Anyone have some clues as to what may be going on here? Things I can check to make a diagnosis?
Appreciate any ideas!
