Hydraulic top link extension needed

I just inherited a Massey 360 and it came with a hydraulic top link. When I hook my disk up and start to use, the back gang doesn t go down enough with the top link fully extended. Is there an economical way to make an extension to make it longer?

Make what is needed out of 2 x 5/8 inch bar. If a yoke
type connection is needed cut additional pieces to
weld on each side. Odd that it would not work properly
in its original configuration. I think it may be a
possibility that a hydraulic cylinder was just placed in
place of the top link. The cylinder may not extend to a
long enough length to provide adequate adjustment.
Do you have the original top link, how does it compare
in length to the hydraulic one. Sorry if this is emotional
but I suspect the previous owner is not available to ask
questions too.

if the top link cylinder length is useful on many other tools as is, change the mount on the disc more forward. if it is short on many tools, make a ridged extension, or a longer cylinder. Jim

Its not too fancy but I just took a piece of square stock out of my scrap pile and put a hole in each end to extend
mine a couple inches. I needed to do so because I added the Pat's quick tach system to the two lower arms which
extended the implement I'm hooked to out about 2 inches. The end of the top ;ink fits right inside of the square
stock piece with a pin and another pin in the implement end.

I do not have the original top link. The hydraulic top link is what was on it. You are correct, I cannot ask the previous owner, and dementia is brutal.

I'd just switch the braces to the outside and move the link down to the brace hole. Drill out some or use a smaller pin and go. You also might try using one of the other holes on the front end if it will work in them.

I don't think that is a top link but a cylinder from
something else. Look at new ones and compair.

It has top link style ball ends on it. They may have been welded on but what is a hydraulic top link but a regular cylinder with ball ends welded on to it.

Normal cylinders either have rod ends or clevis ends, which would not deal well with the implement swaying side to side.

Just looks more like a platform lift cylinder on combine or
other item that uses a lift cylinder with that ball welded
on, as big a diameter just looks too heavy to me.
