Has anyone else noticed?

Over the past couple weeks it seems we've had a lot of new people joining, which is good. But they only make a post or two asking a tractor related question and never see another post from them. I've noticed this in most forums. I know this does happen, but it just seems to me like there has been a lot more than usual lately.

I know that the internet is supposed to be as big as the outdoors but some just come on a site like this to get information then move on.

Im not new, but I do ask questions here time to time. I read the responses, but dont always have time to respond to all the answers I get. Not being rude or anything. I try to get back and sometimes it doesnt happen.

Don't know if it enters into it or not, but when I see a long, drawn out post with NO punctuation, NO capitalization, and NO paragraph structure I don't bother to read it, whether it's a newbie or an old timer.

It's probably just me, since I once filled in at proofreading at a newspaper when the proofreaders got behind but it still drives me nuts.

I miss proofreaders.

I am sorry it bothers you, I certainly am one of the guilty party. Eighty years old driving the tractor with one hand typing on the other , guess I can just forget about answering questions. Hard to take time to do thing right.

My mom was a proofreader for a local newspaper in the early 80s, when we went to her house everything in the paper that was spelled wrong was circled. lol

I might post 2 times in one day and not post for a week--I got called a lurker by some guy that got mad at me and is not on here anymore!! So what are the rules for posting on here-some days the posts get pretty sparse...

ive been hanging around here longer that most actually since before 1999 before you had to register ive seen a tons come and seen a tons leave just as quick kinda runs in spurts

Yep. Around here there is a neighborhood site called Nextdoor. Many post done from phones. 100 to 200 word posts, with absolutely no caps, no commas, no periods. All one sentence, i'd guess you'd call it. Usually young gals, but not always. Says a lot about our current level of education.

Now who would do something like that to a nice guy like you TEE? How you doing? Get any snow lately? We can send you some if you didn't.

Hi Mel--6 am Sun.--Snowed and blew all yesterday afternoon and all last night--
don't know how much we got but Ray had beans here on the home farm so we will have lots of snow in our yard!!!! We get your weather about a day after you--I wish most of the time that you should keep it... How have you been holding up this winter? If I had your money I would be down in Florida pulling the Winter circuit and watching the beach scene!! Stay Safe and we will see ya---Tee

I was a Proofreader at a large printing company for 12 years, printed Phone books for Bell Telephone all over the country, and many other companies, It was a boring job, not suited for me, a Mechanic on the side. But we made very good bonus, I got so I could do my job and think about other things and I remodeled 2 Houses while I did that. When company went Didgetal, I went to the Press Room, ended up as a Pressman for the last 27 years, been retired 19 years this summer. Gene

I'm with you. I only post when I feel like it, then I move on. I sure don't feel like getting involved in disagreements between people who are hundreds of miles apart. I might as well be shovelling smoke.

I read this website every day, but I seldom post. Just because they are not posting doesn't mean they have disappeared.

Just the time of year when folks are doing maintenance and a search leads them here for answers I guess. If they're real lucky, somebody will give them the answer they need. There was a new poster showed up last Monday and by Wednesday, had already racked up 33 posts. He was asking things on a few color forums that could have led to trouble by some testy people. I won't say that I ''called him out'', but I asked how he had made 33 posts in two days. I think that might have defused things a little so no trouble broke out on what could have been the most provocative one of them, and I haven't seen a post from him since. He could have easily become a trouble making troll if left unchecked.
