I have a Wico c mag that I am trying to disassemble, but I cant get the impulse trip arms off. they move up and down a little and side to side a little but they won't come off. Any tips?

Beware of the impulse spring on any magneto. If it is wound up it may fly out and hurt you. You also need a special tool to wind it back. lot of impulse problems for the Wico C magneto were due to a notch wearing into the rotor shaft and it messed up the impulse trip time. Also, pay attention to the spot where the impulse lag time mark is set at before disassembly. The Wico X magneto is a much better unit with a much hotter spark to it.

Why do you need to take them off? I think they are rivited to the plate. Pull the
whole works off if you need to.

Magnetos are a little tricky to work on. It
wouldn't be a problem for me to work on one
now. But, I don't think I'd of wanted to
back when I was a newbie.

You might want to take your magneto to a
mag guy, and have that work done for you.

Sometimes mags are tough to even get apart.
And if you don't know what you are doing,
makes it even worse. They are not as simple
as other components.
