Stuck Farmall B update

Wife and I got it running! Puff
of smoke on first start up, then
zero smoke, great oil pressure.
Still a bunch of parts to go on.
But much happier now that we know
it runs. It was taken apart 20
years ago so previous owners
could paint it.

Tell Renee that she did a great job.
I am sure you helped a little bit also. LOL
Richard, in very chilly rainy NW SC

Steve, about a month on the engine stand, days of soaking and hours of meticulous cleaning. Ran a hone in the cylinders and lapped the valves.

Thanks for the update. I remember that when you brought it home. I wondered if some critical pieces might be missing, having sat all those years. You are going to paint it after all this, right? Dave

Yep, a beautiful Farmall Red! Clutch was coming apart after sitting in the dirt if the pole barn for years. Bought a new one, pressure plate was rusted solid, bought a good used original. Also replaced throw out bearing. So far only nuts and bolts missing.

When you posted the first pics I was one of many that said it looked AWFUL and needed TOO much Love. Congrats on your determination! Replace any sleeves? Any magic potion juice or procedure that helped getting the pistons loose? I would suggest a name, The MIRACLE B!

Started out with transmission fluid, eventually got that all back out and used a couple cans of Free-All, just kept spraying in the cylinders! Free all will eat the rust, transmission fluid won't

You two remind me of a friend of mine. He always says if it rust , busted and you can't find parts I want it.

reminds me of the old saying ... even an old woman looks good in makeup. the other one is just like lipstck on a pig. and one more, its a cat in the bag.

Looks like you may get to plant that cotton crop after all. Sweet save ( and no engine rebuild).
