first you started

For me was a 10 20 Mc Cormick Deering. It
was left in the Calfpatch. My little
brother and I managed to get it
started(cranked it). Drove it all over the
calfpatch. Then parked it back where it
was. I was about 11 ,and brother was 8.
This would have been about 1956.

i had to hand crank our W6 if i wanted to use it to go and get the cows home for milking, or walk 1/2 a mile. before i was 10 years old.
anybody can turn a key to start a tractor, and as i also say a 5 year old kid can drive these new vehcles.

My 1945 Case SC in 1994. I had just finished putting back together after a winter of rebuilding the motor. Crank started it and honestly I was amazed it was running. Freed the #3 piston, Hand valve job. new rings.

1976. 1969 1030 Case Comfort King. I was only 7 and Dad had left the lights on overnight, and I got to start it up while Dad
moved the pickup after jumping it off, but I really dont remember much about it other than climbing up the steps and Dad
saying go ahead.

4440 jd and someone had left the fuel shutoff lever pulled out.
Was about 8 years old and couldnt figure out why it wouldnt
start.

The first tractor I ever started was my dad's 8N Ford. I was five years old; my three-year-old brother and I were climbing on the tractor and I managed to accidentally start it somehow. (Fortunately the neutral switch worked, otherwise I probably would have started it in gear.) My mom and sister heard the tractor running and ran out of the house. Fortunately my ten-year-old sister knew how to shut it off.
