What is the worst tractor you ever owned?? Mine was a Deutz about 30 HP. I never did understand it!!!!I usually could not get it to run , and when it did I did not know why.

worst so far an 871 ford diesel. always returned after a days work leaking something, and after 12 hrs work was too hot to run. Only way too cool it off was shut it off overnight. I did not acquire it new

1948 M Farmall narrow front with front end loader. Owned it 9 years too many. Thing was very temperamental. Started when it felt like it and so on. I doubled my money on it when I sold it. I was very happy to see it go. Kow Farmer

People told me not to get an early JD 2010. I did not listen. To make a bonus, it was an LP 2010 with the pre-heat for the propane, and the regulator sourced from a tiny village in Nova Scotia. After spending $500 to convert it to gasoline, it would start and run ok, but selecting just one gear to use was always a challenge.

The clutch slipped some(wear item). It had a slow water leak, so I left the rad cap loose. The seat was comfy and the PS worked great. Everything else was a mess. I sold it for $2200 and was glad to see it go.

A Deere 3010 diesel with about 20,000 hours on it. I was just getting started farming in the early 90's and bought a cheap well used 3010 for $3200. I knew it needed some work but never thought that much. Spent another $3200 on it before it ever went to the field. Had the steering box rebuilt twice. Had all brand new 24 volt wiring from Deere and still had problems. It got 24 volt going to the lights twice. Sure was bright before it burned all the bulbs out. A friend got me some 28 volt bulbs somewhere. The tractor always needed something. Found a very low hour 3020 gas and switched the diesel engine over into it. It still feeds cows every day with a tmr mixer. I took the 3010 with the 3020 gas engine to a consignment sale. I always wondered where it went and how the new owner got along with it? Maybe I finally had everything fixed? Tom

Due to some very hard feelings and not knowing who might be browsing here I won't name it specifically. It was a brand that became a part of AGCO. I don't think that my father got one full season out of it the several years he had it. It ALWAYS had engine issues. ALWAYS. I don't think that being used when dad bought it made any difference. It ventilated the block in 1978 and that was it for it.

1085 Massey, head gaskets annually , rings bi-annually, starters, multi power, transmission issues. Dad would just get one issue fixed then there was another.

In all fairness I've only owned 2 and one was bought new. The worst for me is the Case 210b I currently own. I think I spend more time repairing it than using it and it still needs a lot.

The worst tractor was an early (63)706D(282). Bought in 78. Sold/got rid of in 80. The best tractor is another (67)706D(310) bought in '84.Has 13,000 hrs and is turboed.. All I have ever done is a clutch and TA.I have just worked the liveing crap out of it.It will never leave. It is the standard by all others are measured.

66 Ford 4000 diesel 8spd. We had that tractor for a few days. The tractor started hard in the cold, input seal leaked really bad, clutch slipped decently (probably from the input seal) and the steering had bad death wobble in road gear. Supposedly everything was gone through. Seller took it back and said your not suppose to use these old tractors for work, just shows.

We always were Oliver men on the farm. My Dad bought a White 2-70 at an auction with only 670 hours on it. The Hydraulic control valves needed to be rebuilt right away. It continuously was stuck in two gears until we replaced the shifting forks (they were not fabbed correctly). It constantly ran warm. At about 900 hours the crankshaft broke at the center main while the tractor was idling. We rebuilt the engine with a new crankshaft and continued using the tractor. At about 1100 hours, the crankshaft broke again while baling hay. we rebuilt the engine again and decided to have it line bored and found the block was distorted. We got it running and sold it. White must have made this tractor on a Monday morning using parts shoveled off the floor. I get a sour taste in my mouth just thinking about that tractor. We knew the hours were correct when we bought it because we had contacted the dealer who had sold the tractor new, and he assured us that the tractor was used very little. The buyer had died, and the tractor sat for two years before the estate sale.

About 1967 my dad was looking for a bigger tractor and was negotiating with the local Case dealer on a 1030. They came to within $25 dollars of each other and, being both hard headed, would not budge. Dad ended up buying a Deutz of the same size as the Case for, of course, less money. The Deutz was the opposite of a 1030. It had high fenders, driver straddled the transmission, and the motor was air cooled. Instead of being up out of the dust, you were trapped in it. Instead of feeling cool air in your face, the fan from the motor kept you roasting. I left for the last two years of college and then was drafted into the Army for two years. When I got back the Deutz was gone.

2010 gas. Pa had on a mounted picker. Its tough to pick corn when you cant leave the picker on.
