TRACTOR TIRES

I am needing to purchase two 13.6 x 28 R1 tires for my little Ford 3600.

Any recommendations on tire brand or best place to buy?

Give Centex tire a call. Not sure where you are, but he makes free deliveries several hundred miles from where he's located in Waco.

I don't have anywhere to suggest where to get them because I buy them local here in Northeast Indiana. I put Firestone on All my tractors but that's just me.

Well, I bought some Alliance brand tires and do not recommend them. They develop a flat spot after setting a while and it's annoying in cold weather-takes a while to limber up and smooth out. Mark.

Best place local dealer and NO Firestone Field And Road, worst tires ever had, older Firestones were good.

The best Firestone were from the 60's and they said Gum Dipped, they were tough, i got a set of 13.6 x38 they will last another 10 years ! But in the later years i liked B. F. Goodrich !They had two more bars on the circumference than the competion!

if you have a good local tire dealer who handles ag/ind tires they will probably get you a very competitive price. I disagree with the post below on Firestone F&R, the two times I have gone a different route were fails, once was Titan and the side walls cracked a split on 1 14.9x38 within 2 years, forget what the other brand was but a tread bar ripped off during a pull. replaced both pair with Firestone F&Rs and that's what goes on every project since

2 years old and not abused and sidewals were so crackerd had to put reliners in them to continue using them. Firestone would not do anything. And in wet conditions would just ball up with mud, older Firestone with 45* tread working side by side stayed clean no mud build up on them. Smaller diameter than other brand of same size.

That Firestone within 2 years was a fail, no others did the same. Radials might have been OK but not built at that time.

I also told the Firestone proving grounds people how they acted both the tires poor quality and the management and I stick by with my assement, Later bought a different tractor with brand new tires that I think were Firestones with the name ground off and they did not last either.

I bought a Branson 6530 new back in 2009 with R1 Titans. Got a couple thousand hours on them and keep the tractor out of the weather under a shed when not used. Rears have no cracks at all and tread is still 70% running some tough jobs in Houston Black Clay....mud or rocks depends on the moisture content..... Fronts about 50% have concentric semicircles around the center line of the tire where the lugs start. Had them (the circles) since new and have grown just slightly, not a problem other than you can see them. Lugs are hard and I think how much plasticizer used in the recipe determines the softness of the tread and resistance to cracking but fast to wear down....can't have your cake and eat it.

If you do a Google map of the Rome, Georgia main facility you can see piles of tire/wheel assemblies stacked out in the sun....I think that is how they have these little cracks on a tractor with zero hours. I understand they import tractor parts for lower import duties then install the tires in the US and maybe other things of which I am unaware.

Great news for all you Firestone Field and Road haters!

They've been DISCONTINUED for over a decade. So any that are left are NOS, and probably not in the size you need.

I have heard through the grapevine that the popular Super All Traction 23 tires are also discontinued.

Anytime this comes up the general consensus is that Firestone is the best but that you pay premium for them. Usually there are some posts favoring Tucker Tire. They are a high volume on line outfit that ships them out reasonably. I have't bought from them but they have a good selection and good prices.

The old Firestone Field & Road has been discontinued for years
The Firestone SAT II s gave good traction in mud or hard ground but don t road well (wear fast)
Have Alliance on the 4000SU, good traction and wear well, but after just 10 years they are weather checked really bad
Nephew has has good luck with BKT s
For radials I like BKT or Midas

Could be they had enough complaints they decided something was not right so
disconuned them , Last I knew they were still on the market but has been a few
years since I bought any. So possibly they have done something correct.
