Opinions on white planters

I m thinking of going to a white 8531 planter. Going from JD I have now. Anyone have an opinion on these planters, good, bad, or downright ugly! I like the idea of a split rows for beans but don t know much about white planters. It comes with topcom monitor, no display. It was run through the ISO plug, 10,000 acres on machine, any help is appreciated! Thanks!

I don't know what exactly they have now, but I had a White, and I think they had the best seed unit out there. I would have bought
another, but the dealers all left! I had a JD vacuum for several years, and it was OK, but not as simple and fool proof as the
White air pressure. Now I have a CaseIH. No seals to maintain like the JD, but new plates show a lot of wear after just one season
on low acres.

My JD is a vacuum planter, good planter but it takes alot of hydraulic oil for meters . Some people say that white planters are not built as heavy as JD planters, just want good planter that will plant accurately, evenly spaced seeds and less trouble!

I would run from any front fold model that has to turn the wheels on it to go from plant to transport like the 9180 does. I would want the tires to be the 22.5or such. Those little 15 inch tires barley carry the load. This is on a White 9180 16row. I see the later models are using bigger tires and not twisting the 4 tires that it is carried on in transport either. Good planters otherwise. If you look at a shoup catalog most of the parts will interchange for wheels and discs. Yep seed meters are different. I put Deere discs on our White last year and dealer discs were only about .70cents difference for the 25 or so I got from Deere versus Shoup. Shoup is not cheap anymore for parts. It pays to shop around and consider the cost of freight. Yes the there was in 25 or so discs only 70 cents in the whole bill difference. Deere being more. Might have even gotten them to cut the 70 cents off. Both had the bearings on the disc.

My JD 1780 that I have now, the wing wheels retract to transport, very heavy frame ! You have to be careful with transport if filled up full with beans! I am basically looking for central fill planter with split row option.

Have had both 5000 and 6000 series and they are great. Simple, accurate, low (almost no) maintenance meters. Much easier to run low air pressure than Vacuum like JD does.
