It will usually work for contact cleaner, but have to be careful that it doesn't melt plastic, especially using it on circuit boards.

CRC electronic cleaner won't melt plastics. Brake cleaner can dissolve some plastics used in electronics.

When you find yourself using 50% more of the Deere cleaner to do the same job as the CRC, it won't seem like such a great deal.

I would have to put both companies down as equally proud of their brand names. CRC likes to market themselves as the "premium" stuff, and so does Deere. So that leaves the quality of the junk in the can. Deere's stuff could very well have less of the active stuff and more cheap filler to explain its significantly lower price.

When I started out as a mechanic, I went out on a job to repair a big yard forklift. It had a bulkhead plug separating the front of unit from back. It was square, plastic and probably 4 wires by 4 wires, so, 16 spade plugs in one. It was full of grease and dirt. I unplugged it and washed it down with spray brake cleaner and went to truck for my meter. When I came back the plug had fallen to pieces like snowflakes and all the wire were loose. I had to make each connection individually for repair. Now, granted this was 1980's, it may have been the banned trichlorethane formula brake cleaner.

Almost a year ago interior cab filters from JD were significantly less expensive than Wix. At one time JD coolant filters were the best price also.

Bought a can of electronic cleaner last week to restore a Chrysler 2014 fob that quit. It worked. Probably paid $6 at a local hardware store.

tried it out worked just as good as the crc. took about same time to clean a squelch switch on a radio
