I will buy a case 580d with no brakes at all. I saw the left brake off the frame and all the bolts were missing. The right side is still there. I am not sure where to order these bolts and how much will it cost to fix it? anywhere can find a repair manual of case 580D.
no brake, leaking has to add 5 gallons per three hours. one front bucket hydraulic cylinder leaks seriously. Most of the hydraulic cylinders were wet. I would like to say 80% off all hydraulic cylinders are leaking. I need all four new tires.engine not rebuild yet, old hoses not replaced yet.
Still worth buying? how much is the fair price?
i think i can rebuild the hydraulic cylinder and brake as long as i can find the right tools

thanks for your help

Even as a parts tractor which it sounds like from your description would fetch 3,000 dollars at a consignment sale. You could
have an additional 10,000 dollars into it before you blink an eye. Very doubtful it will be worth 13,000 dollars when you get
done. About the only thing pointing in favor of buying is good older backhoes are hard to find at least around here and you have a
job pending soon that would bill out at several thousand dollars or more. As described it just would not catch my eye.

The law of comparative neglect. What you know about that is wrong is the tip of the iceberg. It will also need a head gasket, will pop out of 2nd gear, steering loose, and so on. Plan on many weeks of repairs before it's usable. Then, plan for a rebuild soon after.

Fair price? weigh it, then get scrap iron price near you, deduct the cost of gas to get it to the recycler.

Fixing the brakes would not be that hard. I don't know how many I have done. Only speacial tool you need is a short choke wire with a hook bent on it to hook the springs. Resealing the rams would be a lot of
work. But if the rods have any crome missing it would be a waste of time. Having hoses made is getting pretty expensive as well. The D was a good model and I like running one. I would say that fixing one with
that much wrong would be a pregnant idea. I say that because I am fixing up a White 2-63-15 backhoe this winter and it is getting bigger every step of the way. My two cents

No tractor goes for raw scrap price at least around here. If the engine block does not have hole in it then it is most likely a
3,000 dollar tractor. I tried to buy an IH M at auction that would have had a very low parts yield but it was close and had what I
needed and it brought 450 dollar before the 10 percent buyer's premium.

Agree with all said below and tires especially rear tires
are HIGH.21L-24 rear tire for the cat I use is 12-1400
apiece

Here is a link to the online 580D parts book at MyCNHistore.com you can use at no cost.

As for service and operator's manuals I expect you will need to purchase those. It is not likely to find them as free downloads you can study before buying the machine, if that is what you are looking for. If you decide to download one be careful as there are many bad sites advertising cheap manuals that will infect your computer and the manual may not be what is advertised. Used original printed manuals can be found on eBay. Expect to pay more than $100 for one, excellent condition or new will be a good bit more.

As others posted you could end up with several thousand dollars in it very quickly. Unless you have an ongoing need for a loader hoe you might want to plan what you need to do and look into renting one, or a skidsteer, short term as needed. It might cost you less.

would need to see it. tires about 4000 to replace to start with. bolts is the easiest thing to find, all you do is go to a fastener shop and
match one from the other side of if you know your sizes just measure things up. cylinder kits come from any hydraulic and seal shop with your
old samples of course. hydraulic hoses get made also at any hyd. shop with your old ones as samples of course. so depending on the shape of
the unit its your call, and a picture tells a better story, such as appearance or all beat to heck.

thanks guys
i do not think this tractor goes for raw scrap price, yes, you are right. but how could i know "What you know about that is wrong is the tip of the iceberg" for a tractor even a little bit better? for something around 20k, sure, i do not need to worry. but anything 5k to 10k, i do not think i can trust it.
3k is for scrap, right? so 4k or 5k is the price you can get one from market? does not matter what is the condition?
yes, i think i can handle the brake without issue, even one or two hydraulic cylinder can not be rebuild, it is still ok. as long as i can rebuild most of them by myself. hoses are a big problem, replace all of old one? or just use it, until it failed.

Yeah, bucket over the exh, and gone rear tires tells me all I need to know. Zero maint since new. 3 months in the shop for a skilled guy, maybe a bit less. Tires, hydro, rams, trans work, and on and on.

go for it. You're young and have a lot of time.

(quoted from post at 13:04:49 01/16/23) one bolt $75?
part number
G15801

Special, shouldered, not just a plain bolt, likely low volume sales. You have to get part numbers and do your due diligence on parts as prices and quality vary, sometimes greatly. It can be a toss-up as to whether a dealer or aftermarket (if available aftermarket) is less expensive. This type of cost is why you can be hundreds or thousands of dollars in quicker than expected.

The Four-in-one loader bucket and the Extendahoe do add to the machine's value.

I went with a friend a few years ago to look at two 580es. They were both 4wd with extend-a-hoe. The first one was on the rough side and they were asking 13 or 14. The second was in better condition with serviceable tires, but only a plain bucket where yours has the multi-use bucket. and they were asking $9,000. He bought the second and it has been OK for him. He got into a job fixing leaks on the control valve after using it for a year. I have always kept temporary hose splicers on hand in case an implement hose springs a bad leak. Looking at used equipment sites there is a wide range, and of course those are asking prices which seem to me to run roughly 130% of what they could be bought for.

Now that I have seen the pictures. I don't know what your needs are in the way of a backhoe. If you plan to put hay forks on it, like most of them around here, the four in one front bucket is a waste. If you
don't need to reach way out into the canal to clean out debris or dig a real deep hole. The extendahoe is dead weight and costly to repair. I would rather put on an extra coat as to have the cab. Just my two
cents again

so what is the guy asking for it since everyone is saying to run away? to me its mechanic's special and the price should reflect that. i am
guessing he is asking over 5k. ?

A former Supervisor at work called me one day to say he bought a TLB at an auction in my neighborhood, and did I have any projects to use it? He dropped it off at my place on it's journey to his place. No one around me would have bought it from the neighborhood "steal anything not nailed down" and "Screw the other guy every time'' family he bought it from, but he did.

His leaked about twice as bad as yours, plus did not have a seat nor starting switch, but the engine ran smoothly.

I was unable to use it near my pond as I had hoped due to the swing cylinder leakage- too much risk of polluting the water. I installed an actual starting switch and dug a short tile run, then sent it on its way.

For digging, I'd rather have a mini excavator.

Rusty ..... ditto comment from me. I'm surprised it took so long for someone to ask the inevitable question .... what's the guy asking? Why is it always such a secret whether it be an asking price or how much you paid?
