JD cultivator on 50

A couple of weeks ago, I posted a picture of a mystery rod that came with my two row cultivator for my JD 50. Several guys thought it was an activator rod for a fertilizer attachment but then someone posted a pic out of a manual and I decided it wasn't that-not even close.
Since then, I went to a swap meet and bought a manual for a 4 row cultivator. There are a couple of examples of 27558 AN rod that looks just like my rod but it is part of a leveling system for the "back scratcher unit". I have posted pics to compare. I'm still scratching my head. Can anyone figure out this mystery?

A few random comments...

Is there a hole for a cotter pin in the 90 bent end?

That bend has a large radius vs. what would be typical for the end of a linkage rod that would attach to a lever or other pivot point.

The rod is reminiscent of part of a hydraulic hose holder, yet there would be no reason for hydraulics on that toolbar. Also the metal ''tab'' below it looks a bit like a hydraulic hose holder.

How about a holder for a safety reflector?

Enough rambling for now!

The back gangs do not need a rod on them. They are heavy enough that they
don't need anything to keep them down, Just chain to lift.

Just found it on a AT40 cultivator. The rod hooks to the front of the cultivator on special nut for the lower support. It keeps the cultivator in the raised position for storage the way it looks. This was
bothering me since I have seen them before, but not for 30 years. Look on page 6 of the operator manual, in the operation section. Looked at the free download that gets mentioned here from time to time by a
great yter.

Don't think we had them on ours but will look. Dad always wedged 2X4's under the front frame to keep it at the right height to drive up to and mount. Deere knew what they were doing when mounting AT40's compared to the older T40 and older ones.

It sure looks like you've found it. I've never seen such. We had storage stands, but they were not part of the cultivator. They
were separate stands with an adjustable support you could place under the cultivator frame wherever you wanted.

That is what I had. Both 2 and 4 row models and one 4 roe set for 40 in rows for corn other set for 30 inch rows for beans. The wide row on a 51 S and the 30 inch set on a 49 B. Earlier had 2 row on both the 49 B and a 46 B, the 2 row for the 38 A was not made to be able to use stands ads was not a quick tatch model. Never any of those rods like his picture.
