I am looking for the part number of a Felpro head gasket for a Farmall 706 diesel with the 282 CID glow plug engine. From my research most recommend the Felpro brand for this tractor citing that many other aftermarket gaskets fail early. Are there any other good head gaskets that you would recommend? Thanks.

felpro is the garbage gaskets. victor is the good gaskets. i have a new victor gasket here, from olsens, and the last new old one they had. get a hold of Olsens Gaskets . they will fix you up. dont have there number at the moment.

I have a notion that talking about gaskets is like talking about spark plugs. I have been told and have read to not use the no name aftermarket gaskets. Some information on the internet says they will fail in 20 hours.

I am not following what u are talking about. U asked about gaskets , I gave info, now youre second guessing my info. ??? The 282 engine is a head gasket prover. Any other engine it wont much matter on what brand of gasket u use. I put a felpro gasket in a 282 then checked it with soapy water and it had bubbles coming right through the new gasket. But your engine you do as you please. I put your new gasket in , then I will field test it and probably blow it out in an after noon.

No, I am not second quessing your answers. In my original post I should have asked for the Victor gasket part number rather than Felpro. I was thinking Felpro was the preferred gasket. After going back and reading more I see that Victor is probably the best.

Heres a link to what napa offers for felpro ,check with you local napa

Not sure if you wanted head gasket set also , look it over .

Few Tips
Preparation is critical to the success of any head gasket replacement . Here are a
.flatness combined .002 width and .006 length on head and block , surface 60 to 100 ra cast iron is critical to sealing .

i have a early 706 with 282, you want the gasket that tractor vet listed.been a few years but if i remember right you want all the sleves to be with in .002 of each other.

Didn't you buy the last one?

Pretty sure in another recent argument about this, someone said Victor wasn't making this gasket anymore.

Felpro number appears to be 8334B. Seems to be out of stock at all the major auto parts store chains. CaseIH's current number is 134400A1. Messick's has two in stock.

Seems I remember the last time this came up recently, that Victor wasn't making this gasket anymore so you were left scrounging for NOS ones sitting on dusty old shelves.

I looked forever for a Victor and a couple other recomended manufacturers - couldn't find them. I bought mine off this website.

thats right i bought the last NEW OLD STOCK VICTOR GASKET they had, actually the last two. now i have a n o s victor gasket. plus they cost
enough too. at the moment they have a suppier making felpfo gaskets for them. and the old victor gasket is redish brown color.
