Where is a good place to get a complete 3 point hitch for a John Deere 630. Fianc is getting a 630 from her dad without a hitch and would like to put one on. I do believe it has a rock shaft

A & L Parts Penn Yan, NY 315-536-0543 Monday through Saturday. Expect to pay around 1500 dollars depending on what you have and
may be lacking.

I have a John Deere 720 and considered putting a factory 3 point on it in the 1980's when I first bought it. They were about $300-
400 back then. Now I think they are over $1000 if you can find them. There are aftermarket 3 point kit available if you are OK
with them for about half of original. Steve.

Never saw a need for a 3 point hitch on any of my Deere tractors. Just would
have been in the way. If sometime I would get one with it I would take it off.

The 3pt on our 630 was the handiest to have around. Loved it. Running a post hole digger was great, also a shredder.

Rotary cutter was pull type, had a 3 point and did not like it, Plow was a
pull type would do better work and front mount cultivator you could actually
see what you were trying to do.

Would have been tripping over all the arms every time I got on or off the tractor. Get on or off from the back, not from in front of the tire. As some think that is the way to do. That 3 point would have been in the way to get on the same as the 3 point on the Ford would be in the way to get on from the back. Steps mounted on the axle to get on. And I never did like a 3 point hitch plow or cultivator. Pull type for plow, front mount for cultivator. And getting on with the lift arms from the rockshaft on the Deere with cultivators was dangerous enough without the rest of the linkage to fall over. 2 different a's and 2 different B's. plus an AR. I started driving the For in 56 and Dad bought the Deere in 57 and first year I used the Ford, next year I told him I was taking over the Deere with hand lift cultivators. Always hated the rear mounts. Only thing actually used a 3 point hitch for was just a 3 point scraper blade, nothing else and had Fords for that.

Don't put words in other people's mouths.

No one called anyone a fool for using a 3 pt. But it isn't necessary for many jobs. I have used a rotary cutter for . . .well, forever, without a 3 pt. Most of the plowing I have done didn't need a 3 pt.

Were I of a mind to be obnoxious, I might say that he who labels others for accomplishing a job in another perfectly workable and effective manner is the fool . . . .

Yeah I have a Bush Hog 306 trailing rotary cutter and I HATE it. Can't hardly turn without the PTO chattering, and even with the PTO off, can't turn much shorter because the rear tires hit the mower. Thought that's what I wanted. Should have bought a 3pt version.
