The USDA 2022 Census of Agriculture. Have to do every 5 years and I doubt if I'm still around for the next one. Got
it ready to mail anyway, it says you are required by law and Due date 2/6/2023

I've never sent one in. Yes, we have some land. No, we don't farm. But we have a small garden.....sometimes. They think they have the RIGHT to know all about our garden, what we raise, and where it goes, not to mention a lot of other non-land-use info.

Sorry Charlie, not with this cat!

Ask me and I'll likely talk your ear off. Force me....nope, try again!

And yes, I have sent them notification in the past that we are not a farm. They don't care. Still I get threats of jail time and fines if I don't tell them what they want to know, even if they already have the whole short story.

Fine is $200,I told them let's go to court I'll get my $200 worth.Lady said I wouldn't get any more Farm Welfare, told her to look up how much I'd be losing out on.

Hello I have one on my table to fill out too . My cousin a few years back didn't get his filled out , they called him, he told them he didn't have time to talk now so they asked when was a good time he told them 4;30 am was a good time to call as he would be milking well the next morning they called at 4;30 am like he asked. they asked him about how much grain ,corn, wheat, beans, oats ect he had in storage and what he was going to sell, ( by then he was getting miffed ) he then asked the lady that called him how money she had in her checking, how much was in her retirement funds ect. she told him it was none of his business. then he said a few choice words and hung up on her .

This is the second I've gotten and I always thought it was for the Producer only but the tenants have my ground and in programs so they got me too. I did sign contract for CRP Waterway project last year.

Ours gets pretty complicated and takes quite a time filling out but several new questions this year that have nothing to do wit farming which I resent. A lot about internet provider ect. Up until last year I had several acres of federal crop land leased and all the figures have to jive or they call , and that is the last thing you want is try and talk to someone who knows nothing about farming.

It does take a lot of time to fill out, 2 farms in 2 different counties and 2 different tenants Just for the tillable ground then the tinmber, bees, maintenace on the remaining 60 some acres in Timberland, tillable field edges ect. beside the farm being 28 miles apart.

I don't take their program money and don't fill out their census. When they are willing to pay me the same as I charge per hour in the shop then I will fill it out. Tom

Just curious, if yours goes to the same place my does?

I'd have to get out of my recliner, find it and open it up to look. I did a quick search though and you can do it online. That's how I'll do it.

The link will answer everybody else's questions too.
Link to census

The problem with the census is that it's way more complicated, convoluted and detailed now than years ago. Between the very busy reporters who blow it off quickly with off-handed answers and the numb brains and computers on the other end receiving it, - the accuracy ends up in the toilet. So why bother?

I didnt fill it out a few years back. So they called me. One of the questions was how many hogs I have? I said 5, No only 3. They then said, do you really expect me to believe that? I said Yes, come out and look if you want too. I had 5 pigs and 2 died. So now I have little 3 pigs. It was the absolute truth. They never came to look as far as I know.

i never filled 1 out. you let em know how much commiditys you have and everybody else does too, watch the prices adjust asap.
they intend to keep farm prices as low as possible seems to me.
free country with a million miles of red tape attached.
just remember, the farm you own ,well you just own the deed
