I recently bought this steel tractor wheel an id like to know what tractor it came off of and approximate year. It is 20 wide and 70 diameter.

Look at the rust pic post about 3 posts up. A much similar wheel on that contraption. Only I think yours is much taller.

Anyways, I'm thinking it's from the vintage era atleast. I can't say for sure that it's off a steamer or not. But with the angle lugs, it about has to be a drive wheel.

Try looking at Nichols and Shepard. The single one way cast lug is not overly common. The combination of single lug and and round spokes should narrow it to few choices.

I don't think it's a drive wheel, spokes are too spindly with not enough crossover to apply any torque. But it is tall so my best guess is,I dunno

More than likely from a steam traction engine.
Case used lugs like that on early models, like a 30hp, Nichols & Shepherd as well. The drive gear is missing from it, as that's what the four bracing are for, spokes are only for centering not for pulling. If you took this over to Engines & Engineers or some other steam site, you would probably get a pretty good answer. Area that you found it in might help as well, as like tractors, some brands prevailed in some areas.

If it's a steam traction wheel, or old cross motor tractor wheel, it is obviously missing its drive gear. Basically what they used before using a bull gear inside of a casing. Before using the bull gear, a drive gear was exposed and attached to the wheel. A shaft and small gear was ran out to the larger gear on the wheel. The mounting point for the wheel, was just a spindle and just a mounting point for the wheel. The wheel only carried weight at the spindle. The drive actually happened towards the outside of the wheel, but still inside its diameter.
Be easier to see if this wheel still had its drive gear attached.

I dont think its off a steam engine as its too light and no drive gear on it and its too small. Its not even 6 ft high. Maybe possibly off an old combine, as a guess.
