Ran across this video, seems to be from the Ukraine or Russia. From what I could figure out they are harvesting potatoes and sugar beets in a couple segments with snow on the ground. My iPhone will translate the comments into English. The part I was most intrigued by is at the 3 min to 4:20 mark. They are using a heavy offset disc running through an area with trees that are 30 foot tall an probably 4-5 inch trunks. Heavy bar across the front of the JD 4x4 tractor to knock the trees over. Interesting clearing method.
Strange stuff

I've plowed small trees under like they were and you needed somebody to tramp the plow so the trees would flow through and you had to go slow like low gear so the guy tramping can keep up. This was for just a few trees along the edge of a lane or fence row where it had been left to grow out some before we worked the place. The trees would have been saplings less than 10 feet high and only a couple inches in diameter. I have went over a few sapling trees smaller than most of what they were doing. They will die and rot out by the next year for the most part and not be a problem. You do have to go over them the same way a few times though. The big offset discs they were using would probably cut in and cut off things better than a regular leveling disc would. It looked like Sugar Beets to be by the size of the tuber in the harvester bin.

Bob,

Its all about the solar farms these days.
At least they will be harvesting something.

timber companies use those big Rome discs to knock down & chop up saplings before tree planting.
