IH 1566 Black stripe

Not to me. It's a 1566 either way same power and all that. Still stuck with the puny low pressure 12 GPM pump. I never under stood why they didn't put a bigger pump in them all by the 66 series at least.

Well one can upgrade a bit , the big thing holding back is the filter as it only can handle around 15 GPM. . back when they were built massive amounts of GPM and high Pressure was not in demand Yep deere ran a higher pressure and when something messed up in the Hyd system on a Deere lets just say things got interesting and lots of damage would happen . Like what happened to my Uncle , He went to the dark side while i was in Nam and all red gave way to all green due to seasonal help and needing simpler tractors . The old trusty 806 was traded for a 4020 Power shift the stolen 706 was replaced with a 3020 POWER SHIFT (dog) then came the 4320 then the 4520 , then the 4520 vanished one night and never seen again and here comes the 4630 , the night mare tractor with transmissin problems from day one then while deep ripping at the head land out by the road one of the help lifted the ripper made a hard left turn and stabbed the brake pedal when the whole back end of the rock shaft housing blew clean off the back and set the three point piston across the road and THREW the ft. of the new metal tater storage building . One of my old customers had a 3020 that whole on a side hill plowing stabbed the left brake pedal to stop wheel sping in the land side and the down hill side blew the left axle housing off , One min the left fender wheel and all were on the tractor then next it was GONE . Now today one needs 50 plus GPM and god only knows how many PSI . Ya look at todays hyd Excavators and we are talking 5000 Plus PSI and 100 or More GPM. And my flow rater can not go over 50 GPM and 5000 PSI Plus my test hoses don't even come close at 3400 PSI. . Remember when you thought that Oh wow i have dual remotes you were king of the hill. , now ya need three four on a chore tractor.

Deere has always had much better hydraulics than IH. Youre talking about one isolated incident. Deeres were nicer to drive and all the Deere tractors you listed are worth more than the IHs

Well maybe fore you , i have no problem setting in the seat all day on a Farmall or International , They do the job , they use less fuel lug better easier to repair parts cost less and to buy cost less and run longer then a deere . And why is it that when someone's Deere goes down and needs that extra tractor they come and get my raggity old 1964 806 with all it's oil leaks and rusty org. paint that is pushen over 11000 hours with the noisy transmission that it has since i got it back in 1990 on the org engine . Yep the T/A still works and on that i am not sure when that was done , but i did have to put a clutch and IDPTO in it she pulled the center out of the clutch . It comes down to price for me before people went plum nuts i could buy a 806 and a 706 for the price of a somewhat rag 4020 . i had two tractors for the price of one . when corn was a buck nintyfive and i was farming with a 706 Gas that i paid 950 bucks for and 200 for the plow and 200 for the disc and 600 for the like new corn planter and 657.50 for my combine verses the guy with the fancy 4020 when the last load hit the elevator Who had more left in his pocket , I had no payments , i did not have to go tell my not so friendly banker that we were only going to be able to cover the interest on the note . That crop did not care that i did not have all Deere equipment . It did not care if if it was harvested with a 657.50 combine . I got about the same crop as everyone else . Ya say Deeres handle better , welp my rag 806 steers as well as a Deere , yep hard to believe but this one does , It shifts far better then the search and find as just two pinkys on the shifter will get you from H to rev. , all in how you do the adjustments . On the destruction of when things go wrong you just never heard about them .

Deere has always had much better hydraulics than IH is a bit of an exaggeration. Some deeres had superior hydraulics after 1960, some did not.

Deere had also very superior hydraulics to all competitors in the early years of the A and B.

The old Cat NO.6 traxcavator had 50GPM and 2000 PSI so what it lacked in Pressure it had in volume. Was a great hydraulic ssytem and worked well for plowing the plow would lift and drop easily and this was made in the later 50's . Dozing you could pull the lift lever and tilt it fast enough to grade dirt out as you drove in low wide open throttle. Clutch hit the reverse and get the next bucket to spread filling low spots.

the tractor vet
If the IHC tractors were so superior in your opinion to JD new & newer generation tractors then why did IHC end up similar to the Do-Do Bird(non-existent)???? Why as a rule do used JD tractors sell for higher prices than same yr model used IHC tractors. Evidently many other tractor owners don't agree with your view.

As I previously stated years ago I drove a IHC 986 for 4 hrs plowing unhitched from field cult & attached my JD 4255 & vowed never would I drive that 986 again & I held true to my thoughts.
