14 HP power king stuck in gear

You need to take the top off the transmission and align the shifter rods in neutral. Install the shifter with the bottom of the shift lever in the slot. It will likely
happen again as the shift lever is probably worn. You can get by by shifting carefully in a true H pattern, not trying to pull the lever at an angle across the sift
pattern. The end of shift levers can be built up and filed to fit to repair worn areas.

Can you explain a little more about the situation please? Talk us through the events leading up to it getting stuck in gear.

"Stuck in gear" can mean a few things, so we need to know what you mean in this case. Does the shifter lever move but it is still in gear? Is the shift lever stuck in one position, and will not move? That's two entirely different problems with entirely different solutions. Something else entirely happening? That's why you need to describe what's going on.

It could be as simple as jacking a wheel off the ground, removing the top from the transmission and realigning the shift rails. It could be a bearing that has come apart internally causing a roller or ball to jam in the gears.

Not familiar with the power King.
The cheapest mower transmission consists
of 2 belts and a variable pulley between
the two belts.
It sometimes locks up. Especially if you
leave it outside and pulley gets wet.
Put the shifter level in highest speed,
rock it back and forth, then see if it
breaks lose.
If not start engine and put it in highest
speed. Have someone help rock mower when
someone is sitting on mower and engine is
running.

Post pictures of the transmission and
drive belts.

Does it only do it when its below freezing? If so there is water in the transmission. If you can't remember when the gear oil was changed it
wouldn't hurt to change it. I mean, once in 60 or 70 years won't break you.

Hardest part is getting the sheet metal trans/torque tube cover off. Then just pop the transmission cover off and easily pry the gears with a big screwdriver back
into neutral (tractor on level ground!), line up the shift lever to fit the slot between the forks as you reassemble and youre done. If there is no obvious
extreme wear on the forks/lever or gear damage, you should be good to go.

Now that youre aware it can jam up, you'll probably shift it a little easier betwixt gears to save you from going through this again- until you forget and try a
little ''speed-shifting''.

Oh, yeah, change the gear lube and flush out the case while youre in there...
