Rear tractor rim question

Hello. This is my first post and am brand new to your forum. I have a White 2-135 with 18.4-38 rear tires. The wheels have solid square bars welded in at angles and are clamped to the hub. I believe that's for adjusting rear width. Question is can I get different clamps and us a standard wheel like my other tractor has? I have a blown out tire on the White and the rim is junk. I have a set of take off 18.4-38 tires that are bald but hold air mounted to IH rims and would like to just use that style rim. I'm afraid I need to get a whole new axle hub for the White though. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Ok, thank you. I was just hoping to find a way to have both tractors use the same tire/rim combination so it was easier to keep an old spare around that held air and could be put on faster in a pinch.

I'm not a White guy, and don't know what
White had for wheel options for that
tractor. But, .... I think I would stay
with a factory wheel (or equivelant) for
the tractor. Especially if I had to run
around trying to find some sort of special
hub to make something else work. Might as
well put just a little bit more effort into
that, and search for the right wheel.

I know sometimes a guy has to try and use
what he's got, and I'd take that approach
on trying to use the used tires themselves
that you got and are of the same and
correct size. But, I'd find the right wheel
to put them on. Maybe sell your good IH
rims to somebody else that needs those, and
use that money to buy what's right for you,
if money is an issue.

If it was duals that you were putting on,
that'd probably be a different story. Just
slap them on any old way you could get em
on. But I wouldn't do that with an inside
main wheel.

The pictures I looked up for the White 2-135 show that it could have either power-adjust rims or double-bevel style rims like your IH probably has.

Most likely to convert to double-bevel rims you will need the hubs and clamps off a salvage 2-135.

You will need to make at least 5 posts before you can post a picture, so please just reply to this thread 3 more times and then post a picture of what you have.

This is a 2-135 with power adjust rims:

This is the wheel I' really like to use. I just thought it would be easier if both tractors have the same wheel.

I just use the tractors to bale some hay for our old cows. They aren't in grate shape but I'm proud of them!

For giving the restrictions for posting pictures knowing which view a poster is using makes a difference now. Using Classic view one still needs 5 text posts on record before they can post a picture on their sixth post. Chris changed the setting on Modern view a couple weeks ago so only one text post is needed. So, using modern one can post pictures in their second post. Size limit is still the 7 -7.5 mb total in a post.

Either way his count looks like he should be able to post pictures now.

Power adjust wheels on the little tractors they debuted on were OK, but I never thought much of them when they got bigger,
especially like your 38 inch wheels. I think you're on the right track wanting to shift to double bevel rims. And indeed, they are
interchangeable between many brands and models. The different cast/wheel/centers you need should be available, as I'm sure there
were many more of them produced, than of the power shift.

It looks to me like the wedges for the double bevel rims would bolt right on where the guide for the power adjust is. If so then you could just bolt them on with wedges without changing the cast center piece. I would for sure check it out . If you were going to go plowing or hard pulling tillage you might want to consider a different cast center.Though those hold the torque like they are with only the 8 pieces on it. The lug wdges can be gotten a junkyard probably pretty reasonable I would guess. Or a tire shop dealing in Tractor tires should be able to get them. As to your rim just get a used rim of any version of the same diameter and cut out what you need and weld it back in on the old one. If the stem hole I use a washer on the inside then grind them down so it is smooth not cutting or chaffing the tube that way.

I am not familiar with a 2-135 but most white tractors use the same wheel center for p/a and double bevel rims. The difference is the clamps which any
salvage yard should have plenty of.

Check with You tractor tire shop ,,.. Show them a picture , .. Lots of times they will have a good welder on staff , Or send them out to be repaired ,,. 30 yrs ago Georges of Seymour took my 3010 JD 36 inch wheels raised to 38s' by welding the ring on it , charged me 75 each, Beautiful job ,. I have whole quarters cut out and pieced back with the approppriate wheel . Good luck finding the right brackets to swap wheels ,,. They are available ,,. Make sure You have matching part numbers or a good picture before ordering ,,. you might get the wrong stuff

Thank you! That is what I was hoping for. Unfortunately we don't have any White dealers in our area where you can just go and bs at the parts counter like you used to. I'm going to look up those double bevel clamps today and hopefully bolt the used wheel/tire combo on that I have here. Thanks to everyone for all the help! This is a wonderful place to get different ideas and help! Hopefully I'll be able to help someone out in the future.
