White Christmas

Looks like a white Christmas for me. Had 4 inches of heavy wet snow Tuesday night, but most of that melted. Got this 6 inches last night and should get a couple more. This is also heavy and wet, but not as bad as the other.

Going to get well below zero next week so winter is officially here I guess.

Yes indeed, we have a coating of that white stuff too. Id be just as happy if we never had snow for Christmas ever again. I can only think of 2 times in my life when we didnt have snow. One year we had lots of snow in the days before Christmas, but Christmas Eve it started to rain, and rained all night, and by morning all the snow was gone. I think that was 1979. And one year in the early 70s we had no snow right up until Christmas Eve. That night it started snowing, and we had 6 inches by 8am Christmas morning.

Us folks in S.E.VA have a remote chance of snow. The wife has always wants to go somewhere for Christmas that has snow, clear roads to drive on and be a tourist. Where we are, the highway department gets to us last as we're nowhere near a primary road.

We will certainly have a whit Christmas. Probably more than a foot of wet & heavy snow with more to come in the next 24 hours. 1/4 mile visibility behind the shelter belt. Near zero elsewhere. No chance of it melting with subzero temperatures next week.

Over 2 feet on the ground in N. Idaho. Every few days we get 4-6 inches more. Thinking (but not serious) about shoveling off the roof of the house. We usually wait until its 3-4 feet deep, and rain predicted. Probably get some ice fishing in this winter. steve

Winter of '08/09. Shaping up for another one this year.

It's a biggun! We are getting snow in the tropical part of MN too. LOL

Have heard Duluth to Brainerd are getting whiter than us... by quite a few inches.
And sounds like Western Dakotas are really getting hammered.

I concur - winter is here. SIGH. :(

My friend in Duluth says it was the worst snow he ever remembers shoveling, and his snow blower didn't handle it very well either. They were out of power for most of yesterday, but he has a generator, put a cord on his furnace so he could run that and other essentials.

Weather guessers say on any given year we have about a 10% chance of having snow on Christmas. That said yesterday for work I drove to Columbia MO. and ran into a light snow. Just enough you could see it blowing across hwy 63 between Columbia and Jeff City

No question of white Christmas here as we've had snow since early November. Wouldn't be so bad if the wind didn't blow it up into drifts every day. Got to shovel the barn door open most mornings. Then the chop bin. And my driveway has been impassable for th past few days. Made an attempt at getting out today but all I got was a lot of exercise shoveling snow when I got stuck.
