IH model 284 belts

My friend bought a not running IH model 284

He bought it for parts,,but got it running,,and is gonna fix it up now

He needs an alternator belt,,and a governor belt

Where can he get them,,and does anyone happen to know the sizes?The old belts are not on it

Was the alternator OEM or aftermarket add on?
Did you check here on YT parts?
I would take an old used belt, cut it to get an approximate length. I would take the old belt to Coldwell, my go to place for hoses, belts and bearings. They would charge me for one belt and give me a size larger one smaller and one they think will work. Then I bring back the two belts I don't need.
Not sure why they trust someone like me, but they do.
They have seen me many times in the past.
My tractors Use a B width belt which is wider than the A width belt.
 
Did they give you measurements of the discontinued belt?
Width? A or B?
Did you try amazon and ebay?
 
If you just put a rope around the pulleys that fills the groove then take it in they can give you a close sized belt then get the shortest one that will roll on since they never have enough adjustment travel on things like that. If the belt is a bit big for the groove that is fine to. Just note the width of the pulleys.
