CBC style pumps, why were they cut?

Why did roosa end up cutting the CBC style pump? My 4020 runs one as does quite a few in my area. I dont think many of us have had issues with them. were they known to be flawed?

I have one on my 1970 4020 that I can't WAIT to get off and replace with the JDB pump I have ready with new lines too. Lousy governor response and fuel leaks were the common complaints on the C series pumps that in my opinion should never have been built in the first place. I still see a few in for repair each year for fuel leaks though.

That's it, JDB pump and lines. Do NOT use the DB pump like early tractors use as the pilot is different. Deere used to have pump/line kits for the change, not sure they do anymore.

It just bolts in the same way? Same throttle linkage and everything? Might do that next time. I just had this pump rebuilt.

Have you ever had a bushing made to use the early pump on a late tractor? I have a late 3020 engine with the little pump and have a good early pump and lines. This engine is going into an early 3020 gas tractor. I also have all the linkage to deal with the manual fuel shut off. Tom

I have plenty of good used JDB housings I don't need the bushing. When JD started using the CB pump they made the pump mounting hole larger. The JDB/JDC housings have the larger pilot built in which is the same size as the CB pilot. The early DB equipped engines used a smaller pilot hole and used the pump brass tube for the pump pilot.
