I know location has a large bearing on equipment value & equipment is located 30 miles South of Ft Worth.

I attempted earlier in the yr after he sold his farm to get my close neighbor/friend to place this tractor & equipment in an ONLINE AUCTION but he procrastinated.

My neighbor asked me to help him price his equipment which consists of the following items.

IHC 1486, faded paint, cab with non operational AC,50% single rear tires no other known problems.
Bush hog 3715 mower with 540 rpm pto puncture proof tires
IHC 8 row 3pt model 800 planter with endwise transport
IHC 8 row 3pt row-crop cult with rolling plant shields endwise transport
Sunflower model 2310 pull type 14 shank chisel plow
Unknown sq tubing 13 shank pull type chisel with large sweeps/ tooth harrow
JD 200 hay stacker
JD 200 stack mover
30 ft Mayrath pto auger
All has been stored outside except for the 8 row row-crop planter.

Thanks in advance for any ideas on value of this equipment, Jim

A 1486 as described at a consignment sale most likely would bring under 10,000 dollars. The 30 ft auger if substantially worn
would be 500 dollars or less. Is the 800 planter a Cyclo (air)? Either way around here 750 dollars or less. 8 row cultivator 750
dollars or less. Not much demand for 8 row equipment around here. 15 foot Bush Hog in poor condition 500 dollars.

A local farm equipment auctioneer should be able to give your neighbor some reliable price ranges for your area.

Usually planting and harvesting equipment is given top priority for inside storage unless it is already junk. A 40 year old planter stored outside might go for scrap price.

BH 3715 is in excellent shape except for slightly faded paint.

I guessed the 1486 @$5K-$6K.

Planter isn't an air(Cyclo) just a regular planter stored in a shed.

I was aware 8 row equipment doesn't have a very large demand

In NE Kansas a good running 1486 goes in $11,000 $14,000 - they've gone up quite a bit the last couple of years.

The 8 row planter goes from $900 to $3000 depending on condition.

The tractor probably in the 8-14,000 range the planter is scrap price around here. One sold that was a pull model in 6or8 row recently for 500.00 The tractor sunflower chisel plow and mower are the big ticket items in the list. Not sure what a stack mover or stacker would bring here don't see them. The auger will depend a lot on the size 6,8,10 inch or bigger. 6inch not much 10or bigger a lot more value to it. Most use them for truck augers out of bins.

Here the tractor has some value as the others say.

The 30 foot auger would be ok if 8 inch, worth a lot of 10 inch, I assume it is a 6 inch and brings $100.

Everything else is kind of the low end of value, ihc planters older than a 1200 are really disliked around here straight to the scrap pile. Simple chisel plows are about the
value of the iron.

The Sunflower and mower might bring some money not up on the models exactly.

The value of anything is determined by what the seller is
willing to take for it and w fhat the buyer is willing to pay
for it.

I watch Machinery Pete on Saturday mornings.

Seems many people are going to online auctions to sell things.
They claim buyers like it too, don't have to travel and spend
all day to buy a tractor at the auction.

When the IH museum Leesburg,Fl sold everything using online
auctions.

I would check out online auctions.
You would reach a greater number of people.

Before internet auctions. A place between Indy and Terre Haute,
Stylisville, In. would have consignment auctions.
Annually a few FAA chapters hold consignment auctions at Fair
grounds.

I would think auctions may be a better way to get rid of old
equipment and reach more people.

The value of anything really comes down to what someone is
willing to pay and what you are willing to sell it for..

Surely there is an "end of year" consignment sale coming up in the area.

Perfect time, every farmer is looking to tie up some money in something for tax purposes, and prices tend to be higher.
