On a 574 with the D-239 engine it has the Bosh pump P VAA /100H1100 2 more numbers I can't read. I'm looking for either a rebuilt or repair on it if possible. Leaks around the throttle or kill shaft when setting. Other numbers on it are 2220293 and O 460 304 and a couple more I can't read. I took pictures but the glare makes it hard to read and dirt I can't get off with things in the way to read the rest of the top part. Tried a rag and screw driver. This pump probably has about 10,000 hours on it. The tach quit working at 7500 plus ten years or so ago. Having trouble with starting also. Once started runs fine though on occasion it will have a stumble or bit of a surge/race to it. This makes me think the pump needs some work or a new or reman pump.

The Bosch rotary VA AR, BR, and CR versions are all hydraulic governed, not mechanical like most injection pumps are. The way you describe how it acts, hard starting and occasionally surging are signs the hydraulic head is shot. Bosch has little to no parts available any more, only gaskets and seals. New hydraulic heads have been nonexistent for years. I have two in for leaks repair now, both start and run fine otherwise. The latest IH Neuss engines now use the Bosch rotary VE mechanical governed pump that will replace the VA pump, but good luck finding one.

BIL has two IHC tractors with bosch pump. One has the VA-4 pump on it, the other has the VE-4. Both were leaking and he asked me if I would do something to stop the leaks. Watched a couple of UTVs. One was a fellow dismantling a pump off a TD8 dozer and the other was a fellow replacing the head oring on a VW while pump was still on the car. paid close attention on the VW repair about rotating the engine such that pump is charged all the way back. So I ordered a seal kit off Ebay and replaced orings on VA-4 throttle and kill shafts as well as the head oring with out taking pump off tractor. The VA-4 was a challenge because of the slotted screws. But using a c clamp made it easier to pop them loose. I marked the levers to the shafts of the throttle and kill so that I got them back on as they came off. Never saw BIL so happy to have them fixed with just an oring kit.

Ok thanks. I guess I have a search on my hands for something. Not sure just what will happen. Will let all know when done.
