Hydraulic operated PTO

Any tractor I've had with a hydraulic clutch operating the PTO has a brake. It's necessary, as the clutch has inherent drag. So
without the brake, the PTO would be running anytime the engine is.

If you give model numbers we could probably tell you if
it supposed to have a brake or not. I agree with Bob,
most with a wet clutch pack type system have them.

He has a smaller John Deere and a Kubota is bigger, but I don't remember the model numbers. I told him that he might want to get a over ride clutch for them when he runs the brush hog. He said they both have a hydraulic controlled PTO so he don't need one. But I got to thinking what would hold the shaft still then.

I'm thinking the Kubota is a MX5400.
The John Deere is smaller but have no idea what the number would be.
