800 Universal tractor clutch

I have an 800 Universal tractor that the clutch is starting to slip or not fully engage so I was wondering if you can set them up or is it new clutch time. In a low gear or reverse it will engage and take off but feels weak and high up gears will totally quit. The thing that gets me is it was working perfect then I shut it off while feeding with it and then when I went to go again it was doing this but nothing prior. Sitting on level ground and all but no lights and was dark when I got back in it so was thinking I possibly could have did something. Not real familiar with it and only use it when my others are broke down.

Does the pedal feel any different, like it's easier to push?

If so possibly there is a problem with the pressure plate springs.

The only adjustment would be for the freeplay at the top of the pedal
travel. You should be able to feel some movement before the release bearing
contacts the pressure plate.

Hello DJ welcome to YT! I really know nothing about
your tractor in particular. But I looked up on Tractor
data that it is a Romanian built 80hp tractor and
utilizes a dry clutch. So first item to check is if the
clutch has some amount of free play. This tells you that
the clutch is not being held in a partly released state
which would cause it to slip. To check for free play
from the position when your foot is off the clutch there
should be at least some amount of movement with
very low resistance as you start pushing down the
pedal. Then there should be a point when the
resistance becomes greater when you actually start
releasing the clutch working against the stronger
springs inside the clutch pressure plate. The distance
of the light resistance is the free play. There is a
specification for an actual setting but really if you have
some say at least a half inch it is enough to tell you
your clutch is not being held partially released. if you
do find there is free play then likely your clutch is on
its way out and it is doubtful there is an adjustment to
tighten it, most modern clutch systems simply do not
have this option. I might add that you should look at
the clutch linkage while moving it and make sure you
see it moving linkage to work a shaft that goes into the
clutch housing. If you do not see that it may have a
hydraulic type clutch on it which my free play
descriptions above does not apply to. Usually the
recommendation here is to obtain a repair manual for
your machine to aid you with addressing these types of
problems.
Edit: Sorry, but using Barnyards link I cannot tell you if the clutch is hydraulic or not. It appears they chose not to scan the parts diagram for the clutch pedal and linkage.

I had a clutch go out just that quick on my White 2-135 one time. I was discing, unhooked, drove out to the road, to road gear,
and when I let up on the pedal it wouldn't move. I checked everything I could externally and found nothing. I pulled the engine,
put a new clutch in it and that fixed it. I never did find anything else internally that could have caused it.

Just curious where are you located? Not many in the USA I owned one for awhile, traded it off, last time I saw it was advertised as an IH at the Marshall Virginia auction.Company in Greece sells parts and will ship to USA.

Never heard of that make of tractor so had no idea what you were talking about. So I will ask the same are you in the USA?
