1993 Belarus 825 Electrical Issues

Hi everyone,

I am having difficulty getting my tractor to start. It has the 24v starting system and have went round and round trying to troubleshoot. Hoping somebody here can help.

Currently, I am not having the starter engage at all whenever I turn the key. I also hear no activity in my relay (between the batteries) when the key is engaged. I am thinking I could potentially have an issue in there or in another relay somewhere. A clean image of the wiring there might be a big help.

I believe my issues stemmed from jumping the tractor incorrectly also, so wondering what I could have burned up doing that. I've purchased new batteries since and have tested those to be confident that is not the issue. I've also replaced the starter relay under the instrument panel in the cab, but upon checking the old one, it seemed to be fine. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm realizing I called it a relay but it is the Series Parallel Switch between the batteries. I've taken this out and even tested it by hooking it up to a battery and it seems functional, but it will not engage in my tractor at all.

Have you searched the 'net for a wiring diagram?

You are going to have to figure out what all is involved in activating the series-parallel switch when the key is turned to start or the start pushbutton is activated (however the tractor is setup).

Check the connections at both batteries and that they are fully charged and in good condition.

Look the electrical system over for a burnt or broken wire, and check any fuses or circuit breakers that it may have involved in the starting circuit. There MAY even be a smaller relay between the start switch and the series-parallel switch.

Have you tried putting power to the solenoid. That is the first thing I do on my Belarus. I have had those ignition switches go bad. If it starts with the jumper wire and everything else keeps working and you get tiered of looking just ad a switch. Most Belarus tractors have many farmer fixes as they are cheap tractors and not worth the cost of new parts.

If it makes noise when off the tractor, it is either not getting a signal to engage, or not connected to the batteries (though it appears to be) battery cables and end terminals can go bad without having an external visible fault. They decay internally. A test light is your friend. Jim

This might not be of any help at all ,

(quoted from post at 15:07:50 11/22/22) I am going to give this a shot. Thank you

We are still working our way to figuring this out. We have been able to get the solenoid to engage by jumping but not enough crank to start it.

Wondering if anyone out there has any luck rewiring these to a 12v system or have any suggestions for rewiring to bypass all of this nonsense? I'm not very electrically inclined so relying on my uncle to help me troubleshoot.

Im noticing that my lights are also not coming on when the key is on, none of the switches on the dash appear to be working. My blower fan for the cab AC seems to be working though.

"We have been able to get the solenoid to engage by jumping but not enough crank to start it. " Likely because in jumping you are hitting starter with 12v & not the needed 24 volts.

Sometimes those big cables corrode on the ends under the crimp. Im fighting that right now on a 5250. Tomorrow if I feel better I will make all new cables. I have new starter and batteries. I still have to ad one set of boosters to get it to start.

more than likely it is the series parallel switch is only supplying 12v to the starter, attach a volt meter to the starter terminal of the switch with the starter wire disconnected then activate it and see how much voltage you have.
