Hoarfrost Scenery

Nice scenic morning here with the hoarfrost covering everything. Sunshine and almost no wind so the -5F temps were not bad. Old Perkins fired up quick after an hour and a half on the block heater.

(quoted from post at 13:16:29 11/15/22) Why is it called Hoarfrost?
Its what we have always called it here. Although latter day experts have informed me that it is more correctly known as "rime frost". Hard to break an old habit though.

I have never heard of "Rime Frost" around here. Rime ice however is what they call the ice that builds up on the scrubby little trees on mountain tops. It gets very thick and heavy.

Man , you guys have sure taken to this winter stuff. No
snow accumulation here as of November 15, but
tomorrow is another day. I think today was the first day
it didnt get above freezing. I was out working down
corn stalks, no mud, no snow, just good to go !
