Hydraulic flow question

Ford 3000s use a piston pump for the
hydraulic system. It produces 4.4 gpm.
The next generation Fords - 3600, etc use a
gear pump. Those produce 8.8 gpm.
It would be pretty easy to bolt a 3600 pump
onto a 3000. Just requires a bit of
plumbing of the pressure and return lines.

What, if any issues could doubling the flow
cause in a hydraulic system not designed
for it?
It is a question I have had in the past but
never got answer to.

Useing 3600 lift cover and flow control it should work ok. They say useing hundreds series piston pump on NAA doesnt work very well for it has a little more flow.

From a general hydraulic standpoint, worst case scenario you could damage the pump due to excess pressure from restricted flow. More likely the system would just run a bit hotter than normal.

That said, those with ford experience will know more.
