Warner Auburn Ind gearbox WA50-7A

I need an output-side cover plate for a Warner Auburn Ind gearbox WA50-7A. It's out of an old brush-hog mower and is in great shape except for the damaged cover plate. It appears to be cast iron; is this something that can be welded? Any repair suggestions or new/used-part sources would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

If the gears are in good shape and the shaft isn't bent or twisted a new part could be machined relatively easily from steel.

I had that same gear box on a Woods mower.
Maybe find a dealer that can identify it. Looks to me
like there was water laying down there and it froze
and broke the casting.

That's what I was thinking if not available. Somebody with a lathe and a few of the critical measurements could machine one. All done from the back in one setup and it would be true with little effort.

With a thicker plate so it could be cut from the front and left flat on the outside it seems like it could be cut from one setup in a lathe or boring mill.

Don't know why more folks do not think of brazing right away. You can prolly braze that stronger than trying to weld it.
