looking for a large ball joint for a project,,articulation tractor joint,, how big do they make ?
 
yes up and down.. and side to side ,, up and down 20* ,, side 150* ,, two 12000# tractors size

Versatile (and likely many others) used a ''spherical bearing'' in the articulation joints.

They are available in a wide variety of sizes, of course you will need heavy block of steel bored to accept the bearing and snap ring grooves or other means to hold it in place.

You can see the spherical bearings at the various joints in the drawing above.
 
that is closer to what I need ,, looked at versatile 850 couldn't see ball flex joint
 
TimKin would have spherical bearings that your looking for.They would work for steering, ocilation not so much. Pillow blocks would also work, with less machining.
 
Get a hold of Big Tractor Parts in West Hawley MN they can fix you up with one for a Stieger or a Versatile. If not then they can send you in the right direction.

In the drawing I posted, 9, 13, and 31 are spherical bearings.
