Hill Country Tractor Ride

The Fredericksburg club put on another great ride yesterday. Unfortunately I forgot to take the battery off the charger for my good camera so I didn't get any good pics of the ride BUT I will wager this was the only tractor ride in the U.S.A. this year where elephants and kangaroos were seen along the route. Or when the ride passed in front of a former U.S. President's home and thru his ranch. Sadly the effects of several years of exceptional drought were evident in the pastures. No grass and even the live oak trees are dying. Our hopes and prayers are for a wet winter (unlikely) and a green Spring Bluebonnet Ride.

I'm actually not a club member, just attend their rides. The spring ride is usually the 2ed Sat of April. Like Hill Country Tractor and Engine Club on FB to keep up with activities and get contact info. They have several routes they use, mostly between various restored country school houses or other such facilities.

OK, little more info. 20 + tractors on this ride but the temps may have affected that. some have had 40+ tractors. they also have a website, rustyiron.org but it isn't always up to date. FB is still the best way to follow them. good friendly folks. there have been people from New Mexico and several other states on the rides. they have had a spring show and exhibit at the Gillespie County Fair the end of August.
